Artist Profile:
Nguyễn Xuân Lục
He was born in 1983 in Hà Tây, Vietnam. He graduated from Hanoi University of Industrial Fine Arts in 2007, specialized in lacquer. Coming from a community of many traditional crafts, Lục discovered Raden, a decorative technique used in traditional crafts and woodwork, at the age of 13 and worked with the Raden craft village. Afterwards, Lục continued his practice with lacquer to become a lacquer artist. With passion and intention to combine lacquer and Raden, Nguyễn Xuân Lục uses his skillsets as solid foundation to develop his own artistic identity, style and philosophy in his lacquer works. Before his solo exhibition ‘DUST’ in 2019, Nguyễn Xuân Lục had 17 group exhibitions with lacquer paintings in Vietnam as well as international exhibition, and received many awards from 2017 – 2021.
