BIOGRAPHY

Thy Trần was born in 1988 in Ho Chi Minh city, Vietnam.
She is a Vietnamese-Australian visual artist currently living and working in Saigon. She moved to Melbourne, Australia as a teenager, graduated in 2012 with a BFA from MADA at Monash University.
Thy moved back to Vietnam in 2015. She was a freelance fashion photographer in Melbourne and continues to work commercially in Saigon, while also devoting time to personal and collaborative projects.
In 2017, Tran announced the release of her debut photobook ‘Cacher’, published by NB (UK). Thyʼs work is charged with a quiet yet sensual intimacy and melancholic narrative of a deep, dreamy romance. The artist explores her sexuality, relationships and identity through imagery that is emotional yet surreal, capturing ephemeral moments within relationships. Photography emerges to Tran as an expression for the dialogue between images, desires and the dialogues between the real and imagined words.
